Use Discord when…
You need a public server, voice hangouts, bots for memes, and a place for players to chat between sessions without touching campaign secrets. Discord is the town square.
Use dnd.chat when…
You are actually playing — rolling dice with server-side audit logs, conjuring cards from your DND Cards grimoire, tracking initiative beside the transcript, and whispering to players without leaking statblocks. Channels match how TTRPG groups talk: IC table, OOC, lore, loot, session plans.
The hybrid table
Many groups keep Discord for community and run sessions in dnd.chat. Same login across DND Cards, DND War, and the tavern — campaigns sync automatically. When maps matter, open the battlemap on DND War from the tavern header; prep decks on DND Cards.
